Neutral Posture CEO Named
To International BIFMA Board of Directors
Bryan, Texas - The Board of Directors of the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association (BIFMA) International recently named CEO, Rebecca Congleton-Boenigk, of Neutral Posture, Inc. to its board of directors for a three-year term.
"What an honor it is," exclaims Boenigk, "to be able to impact manufacturing standards on an international scale."
Established in 1973, BIFMA International is a not-for-profit trade association of furniture manufacturers and suppliers addressing issues of common concern. Among other responsibilities, the group is responsible for reviewing manufacturing standards for office furniture. The ANSI/BIFMA Safety and Performance Standards are developed by the BIFMA Engineering Committee. The standards are reviewed every five years according to guidelines established by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The standards are intended to give manufacturers, specifiers, and users common bases for evaluating safety, durability, and the structural adequacy of the specified furniture, independent of construction materials. The standards define specific tests, laboratory equipment to be used, the conditions of test, and the minimum acceptance levels to be used in evaluating these products.
The organization also serves the North American office and business furniture manufacturing industry as an information resource and industry advocate, and by offering industry-wide trade development opportunities.
Boenigk and two others were named to the prestigious board positions, replacing two retiring board members. BIFMA also announced the election of a new president, Dan Miller, who was elected to a one-year term as the association's new President effective June 1, 2004.
Boenigk recently also accepted a two-year appointment to the National Advisory Council of the Small Business Administration (SBA).
